Sewing on buttons with a machine and a darning foot.
My main machine is a Bernina 330. I had a client this week that wanted new buttons sewn on some wool cardigans. I planned to hand stitch them until my friend Claudia, of Sew You Studio, encouraged me to give her darning foot (Bernina foot #9) a try! I am hooked and I will never sew a button by hand again. I found this great tutorial (look for tutorial 15) for sewing on buttons with a Bernina 330. I know lots of other makes and models have this feature and I encourage you to give it a try!
