In the Studio

by Sadie Fox Studio

Spring is coming to an end, as well as the school year. Summer is heating up and my hours spent in the studio will be a bit less. It is time to play, garden & enjoy fun in the sun with family & friends.

However, lots of new and exciting things are in the works at Sadie Fox Studio! I can't wait to share with all of you. Soon!

In the meantime, here is a peek at some of the lovely work, students and clients that make my life such a joy.

Happy summer everyone!

Spring is alterations time. Weddings, proms, dresses! Whew! Super busy time of year at the studio. I did manage to squeeze in a new dress for myself. A Magic Bias Dress sew-a-long!

Pepernoot Stitching

by Sadie Fox Studio in

Our Pepernoot sew-a-long team started off by making pockets. It really is exciting to see the fabric and zipper choices in action. After that the coats really started to come together quickly. I love the shape of the back yoke seam. It is a lovely detail.

I have fallen in love with the fabric I purchased for my Pepernoot and the bright blue lining is going to be just the right pop of color. Lucky for me the recent snow storm in Denver will allow me the chance to get some good use out of my new super cute coat!

The luscious fabric my friend, & student, Norma picked out for her coat is a classic muted sage green wool. She is adding a super fun surprise of gold piping, gold zippers and hot pink lining! I can't wait to see her in it!

Claudia, of Sew You Studio, picked out an unexpected and crazy cute fabric combo for her coat! I can see this coat hanging in the window of a super hip boutique. I am going to have coat envy for sure!

This Waffle pattern is super easy to follow and I absolutely love the visual diagrams for each step of the process. The layered pattern printing is great and I love that I can print off just my size. I am looking forward to stitching up one of their other patterns very soon!

Winter Coat Sew-A-Long

by Sadie Fox Studio in

It is a cold & snowy day here in Denver. Perfect for planning out a winter coat sew-a-long. A few of my students and friends will be joining me. We will be stitching up the Pepernoot coat by Waffle Patterns. We plan to meet up once (or twice) a month at the studio to trouble shoot, take photos & have fun. I will be sharing our progress as well as tips & tricks along the way.

We are super excited and each of our coats will be unique & gorgeous based on the fabric and notions we picked out at Colorado Fabrics last week.

Here is our schedule. Join us and follow along.

February 1st thru February 14th - Make final fabric and notion selections. Print & prepare pattern pieces. Cut out all fabric, lining & interfacing pieces.

February 15th thru February 29th - Construction begins! Zippered pockets, front & back bodice, front band.

March 1st thru March 15th - Sleeves, hood, lining, zipper

March 16th thru March 31st - Complete construction. Lining, hem and fur trim if applicable. Take final celebratory photos!
